Shen Yueyue, President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), held a symposium on the work in housekeeping service sector during the awarding activity of the Second National Women's Housekeeping Service Competition in Jinan, capital city of East China's Shandong Province, from October 20 to 21.

At the symposium, Shen stressed the thorough study and implementation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech, insisting on putting people first, responding to the needs of families, and taking the housekeeping service sector as an important channel for serving women and families.

Noting the importance of making good use of support policies and building of the credit system as well as professional development, Shen urged the women's federations to take down-to-earth style and practical methods to contribute to the promotion of the quality and the expansion of the capacity in the housekeeping service sector.

Shen noted that it is necessary to promote housekeeping training, establish and improve pre-job training, re-training, and training with different levels, utilize new forms of online training, and explore new models of vocational education through school-enterprise cooperation so as to promote the professionalization of housekeeping services.

Noting that a new platform and new mechanisms are needed to promote the quality and expansion of the capacity of women's housekeeping services, Shen also stressed strengthening the standardization, credibility, and branding of the housekeeping service sector.

Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, presided over the symposium.

Representatives from the women's federations of Shandong, Anhui, Henan, Guizhou, Jiangsu and Sichuan provinces, as well as Guangxi Zhuang and Inner Mongolia autonomous regions, exchanged their experiences at the symposium.

Shen and Huang also conducted an inspection tour in Fanggan and Wanglao villages in Jinan's Laiwu District, to learn about the roles that rural women play in production, life and development of family traditions, and the outcomes that grassroots women's federations have achieved in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

Shen was concerned about the free screening of breast cancer and cervical cancer for rural women and the work of aiding impoverished women. She urged grassroots women's federation cadres to pay attention to women's health and care for needy women.
