A delegation of faculty members at China Women's University (CWU) attended a training symposium about Party-building affairs in the counties of Zhengding and Pingshan, north China's Hebei Province, on May 11-12.

The two-day training session was co-hosted by the Party Committee, the Publicity Department, and the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office of the CWU in a drive to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Karl Marx, celebrate the upcoming 97th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and encourage participants to remain true to the Party's original aspiration and keep its mission firmly in mind.

It drew the attendance of Secretary of the CWU Party Committee Li Mingshun, who is also head of the Central Leadership Group of Theoretical Studies affiliated to the committee, and all members of the committee as well as the Committee for Discipline Inspection.

During a tour to the village of Tayuanzhuang in Zhengding on the morning of May 11, the delegation learned more about local people's endeavors to fight against the harsh natural environment and embark on a journey to become prosperous under the leadership of their village Party branch and self-governed committee over the past few years. They also personally experienced the love and care given by President Xi Jinping, also general-secretary of the CPC Central Committee, towards grassroots people.

They gave high praise to the noticeable achievements attained by the village in the development of its agriculture, elderly care industry and tourism.

Drawing upon profound knowledge about the Party's history and previous interviews with veterans, Shi Jinping, deputy director of the research office in Xibaipo Memorial Hall, a major revolutionary site in northern China, shared her understanding of the significance of "keep the CPC mission firmly in mind," with the delegation. She also discussed the historical contributions of Xibaipo to the founding of the People's Republic of China when the CPC Central Committee garrisoned there from May 1948 to early 1949, and relevant revolutionary spirits in a lecture in the afternoon.

In the evening, trainees conducted a self-learning of a book, which was published by the Hebei People's Publishing House in 2015, covering the speeches, articles, letters and memoirs written by President Xi when he worked in Zhengding.

The book helped them learn more about Xi's insightful thoughts about governance, and deepened their understanding of Xi's original aspirations and the CPC's mission.

On the morning of the next day, the delegation visited the former residence of Chairman Mao Zedong, Premier Zhou Enlai, and other senior revolutionists of the old generation when they toured around Xibaipo Memorial Hall.

Moreover, they also held a ceremony to refresh their vows concerning the accession to the CPC.

During their stay in Hebei, the Publicity Department prepared relevant study materials for them.

All participants pledged that they would remain true to the CPC's original aspiration, keep its mission firmly in mind, succeed and promote the Party's fine tradition and exemplary conduct, act on the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, give full play to CPC members as role models, and work tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
