China Women's University (CWU) held a symposium on June 28 to strengthen and improve its ideological and political theory courses and the work on ideological politics.

The gathering also aimed to further the implementation of President Xi Jinping's keynote address at a national conference on ideological and political theory courses in universities and colleges during this March.

Xi Jinping noted during the conference that China's ideological and political teachers should uphold firm Marxist belief and boost creativity in teaching to cultivate talents to build up socialism.

Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, said at the symposium that the university should further its innovative reform in ideological and political theory courses, consolidate the efforts to build the university's brand, and make relevant courses become featured and content-oriented in a move to lay solid foundation for the application of national fund on social sciences in the category of ideological and political theory courses.

Wang Lian, Vice-President of the CWU, presided over the gathering. She said that the needs of the ideological and political teachers during their work should be discussed during the symposium, to bring the ideological and political theoretical research to a higher level.

Meanwhile, faculty members from the departments of ideology and politics, publicity and scientific research spoke about the progress and orientation of their work.
