CWU's Retirees Share Their Stories with Young Teachers, Students

To mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of China Women's University (CWU), the university invited retired teachers to share their stories and thoughts with young teachers and students on November 5.

Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, Liu Liqun, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the CWU, and Ren Cuiru, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee of the CWU, attended the meeting.

Gui Zhizhen, former President of the CWU, and Pang Dongli and Zhu Dongwu, representatives of the retired teachers of the CWU, shared their ideas at the meeting.

Gui reviewed the tough process of establishing the CWU. Pang and Zhu told their experiences of promoting gender equality and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of women and expressed their love and gratitude to the country.

They hoped that young Party members will pass on the revolutionary spirit of staying true to our original aspiration and keeping our mission firmly in mind and maintain the spirit of respecting knowledge and talent."

Their stories touched everyone attending the meeting. Young teachers had deep feelings about the shared stories and they were willing to inherit the good tradition and work style of these retired leaders and teachers, devoting their dream and original aspiration to the causes of education and women.

A representative of the students also expressed her ideas. "We shouldn't forget the tough days that our predecessors endured. In the peaceful age, we should study hard and keep our original aspiration to contribute to the national development. "

"We should learn and carry forward the perspective and the sense of mission and responsibility of our predecessors; we should inherit the optimism and working attitude of our retired university leaders and teachers; and, we should take responsibility and work hard to achieve new progress," Liu stressed.

The meeting provided an opportunity to university retirees, young teachers and students to have in-depth exchange and communication. By listening to the stories of retired leader and teachers, young teachers and students were encouraged and enlightened to further understand the  mission of the CPC Central Committee.

More than 40 representatives of the teachers and students of the CWU took part in the meeting.
