Organizers at Beijing Staff Service Center in the city's Xicheng District held the launch ceremony of a themed activity on June 8 to spread good family virtues.

The district was designated as a national model civilized demonstration area and has a rich history and a wealth of cultural resources. Many famous figures worked and lived there in the past.

The event aimed to appeal to local residents to study good family traditions and lead them to become civilized families through various activities.

Around 200 attendees included officials from the district government, representatives from celebrity families and winners of the Beijing Most Beautiful Family award, as well as students and local residents.

During the event, Jin Congzheng, descendent of Aisin Gioro, of the imperial family of Qing Dynasty (1644–1912), and Ji Qingyuan, the sixth generation grandson of Ji Xiaolan, a politician of the Qing Dynasty, shared their own families' stories.

Chen Guozhen, vice-chairman of Xicheng Senior Painting and Calligraphy Research Association, showed his calligraphy of the Chinese characters "Jia He Wan Shi Xing", which means "a harmonious family can lead to the success of everything."

At the event, 15 families received the trophies and certificates as 2017's Beijing Most Beautiful Families. They encouraged people across the region to study good family virtues and spread fine family culture.

In addition, organizers displayed stories and family mottoes of celebrity families from the district through 24 posters and over 50 seal cuttings.

The organizers stated that they would establish a publicity team to share families' stories across the area, compile those stories into books, and shoot a related film.

Later, a series of activities including transcribing family letters from well-known people, reading family mottoes, writing family stories and visiting former residences of famous figures are also expected to take place, trying to further reveal Xicheng's culture and moral traditions.
