ACWF Promotes Law's Implementation

 February 27, 2023

To strengthen protection of women's legal rights and interests, the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) recently issued a notice to urge women's federations, at all levels across the country, to promote implementation of the revised Law on the Protection of Rights and Interests of Women, which took effect on January 1, 2023.

China in 1992 promulgated the Law on the Protection of Rights and Interests of Women. The legislation, the first of its kind in the country, marked a milestone in the development of China's legal system, in the progress of protecting Chinese women's rights and interests, and in the promotion of women's development.

The notice stresses the revised law is intended to promote the spirit of Chinese President Xi Jinping's important statements (in recent years), and to promote implementation of the key decisions of the CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee on strengthening the protection of women's legal rights and interests. The notice also stresses the law showcases China's achievements in helping women protect their legal rights and interests, especially regarding politics, culture, education, the job market, family relations, the right of person and properties, and all other spheres in social development.

The notice urges women's federations, at all levels across the country, to conduct various activities (with other organizations) to promote implementation of the law, and to promote the rule of law in China.
