Improving Marriage, Family Relations

The Legal Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the China Association (for the Study of) Marriage and Family (CAMF) and the Marriage and Family Laws Studies Institution, under the China Law Society, held, in Beijing on December 27, 2017, the 2017 Annual Meeting of the China Society for the Study of Marriage and Family. Organizers invited experts in family and marriage and scholars (who study sociology, medical science, laws and legal regulations) to share the achievements of their studies of the laws on marriage and family, and to discuss how to improve marriage and family relations. Zhen Yan, President of CAMF and Deputy Director of the Social and Legal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Tan Lin, Vice-President of CAMF and Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of ACWF, spoke during the meeting.

Tan noted ACWF's officials hoped the scholars and experts will make greater achievements in their studies, so they can promote promulgation of laws and regulations related to marriage and family.

Li Mingshun, a professor with China Women's University, explained how China should build rational marriage and family systems.

Wang Yi, President of Remin University's Law School, suggested lawmakers should adopt a people-oriented attitude as they formulate laws and regulations.
