The First Women Leaders Global Forum was held in Reykjavik, Iceland, from November 26-30, 2018. More than 400 representatives from the political, business and academic fields of 100-plus countries or regions attended. Xia Jie, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), headed the Chinese women's delegation.

Xia delivered a speech in the high-level roundtable, during which she promoted Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and the achievements of the 12th National Women's Congress of China. She called on women from all countries to strengthen cooperation and exchanges, and to make new contributions to the advancement of gender equality worldwide, and the building of a community of shared destiny.

During a breakfast meeting, with the theme "Promoting Women's All-Round Development," Xia outlined the four-point proposal on promoting gender equality and women's all-round development, made by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. She also introduced the CPC and Chinese Government's measures to promote gender equality and women's all-round development, and the achievements reached in Chinese women's development during the four decades of China's reform and opening-up.

In Iceland, Xia communicated with State leaders of Iceland, Liberia, Romania, and with the forum's president and executive president. She also met Ásmundur Einar Daðason, Iceland's Minister of Social Affairs and Equality.
