At the invitation of the Hanns-Seidel Foundation, Tan Lin, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), headed a delegation of Chinese woman to Germany from December 3-6, 2018.
During the visit, the delegation and the Hanns-Seidel Foundation cohosted the Sixth Sino-German Women's Workshop, with the theme "Break Women's Traditional Roles and Promote Women's Economic Empowerment." Tan delivered the keynote speech, during which she outlined Chinese women's development and women's economic empowerment during the four decades of China's Reform and Opening-up. Given the great importance attached by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China's mechanism for advancing gender equality and women's overall development has been improved. As a result, women's synchronous and coordinated development has been protected simultaneously with the advancements of China's economic and social development, Tan said.
In Germany, the delegation had a dialogue with women politicians and participated in several meetings with the German Women's Council, the State of Bavaria's labor, social security, family and society integration and family union service institutions, the industrial and commercial assembly, the entrepreneurs' association of Munich, and the women and work association of Berlin.
