'Today's Xiao Quan & Portraits' Exhibit Closes in Beijing

The solo photography exhibition Today's Xiao Quan and Portraits takes place on June 18 at Today Art Museum in Beijing. [Women of China/Penny Huang]

 

The closing ceremony of the solo photography exhibition Today's Xiao Quan and Portraits took place on June 18 at Today Art Museum in Beijing.

Chinese photographer, Xiao Quan, 58, is renowned for his portrait series Our Generation depicting the lives of Chinese artists in the 80s.

The exhibition displayed 96 works spanning several decades, representing the sympathy and compassion of individuals in contemporary Chinese society.

It showcased portraits of celebrities from Chinese art and literary circles such as famous folk dancer Yang Liping; celebrated novelist and writer San Mao; and, actress Zhou Xun.

Some faces of less famous members of the public were also shown in the display.

At the closing ceremony, Xiao concurrently released his latest photo book.
