 April 7, 2016

China Women's University (CWU) held a seminar on the spirit of the National People's Congress (NPC) and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), collectively known as the "Two Sessions", on March 29.

Li Shenming, member of the 12th NPC standing committee and vice-chairman of the NPC Internal and Judicial Affairs Committee, gave a lecture on "Earnestly Studying and Carrying Out the Spirit of Two Sessions, Striving for Building China into a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Aspects". Li Mingshun, Chairperson of CWU Council, presided over the event.

Li Shenming outlined the significance and connotation of the Two Sessions spirit from four aspects, including the general situation of the Two Sessions, its main spirit, opportunities and challenges both at home and abroad brought about by the Two Sessions, and how to set up correct political ideas and strive for the rejuvenation of China and building a moderately prosperity society.

Li Shenming emphasized Xi Jinping's core status as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chinese President. From the perspective of developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, the Two Sessions put forward a Four-Pronged Comprehensive Strategy. Li asked participants to keep ideal and faithful, be well aware of crisis, grasp opportunities, and take action for the prosperity of society and the rejuvenation of China.

Li Mingshun said that the seminar deepened his understanding towards the Two Sessions with its rich information, and high theoretical level. He said it was a report both on the Chinese basic situation and policy, and on the Party's history and philosophy of life. The seminar not only elevated participants' political quality, but also pointed out the direction towards a correct world view, values, and outlook.

Li Mingshun asked Party members to fully recognize the significance of the Two Sessions, achieve CWU's 13th Five-Year Plan, and open up a new situation for the university's development.

The seminar was co-sponsored by the CWU Publicity Department, and Student Affairs Office. Members from the CWU Party Committee Center Group, directors from different Schools and Departments, secretaries from different General Party Branches, all the faculty members, and part of student body participated in the event.
