CWU Dept. of Computer Science Holds Homecoming Day

The Computer Science Department of China Women's University (CWU) held a homecoming recently for its graduate students in the past ten years.

Some 120 alumni participated in the event, which was presided over by Zhang Qi, deputy secretary of the general Party branch of the Computer Science Department.

CWU president Liu Liqun warmly welcomed the alumni and introduced the university's situation in talent cultivation, teaching reform and social service. While fully affirming the department's achievements in reinforcing students' knowledge about information technology and abilities in rational thinking,

Liu also pointed out that the university is the spiritual home and source of strength for students. She hoped that the alumni could work hard, keep in close touch with the university and gain greater achievements.

CWU had the first computer in 1987 and began to enroll students in the Computer Science and Technology Department in 2004, recalled Ning Ling, dean of the Computer Science Department.

Ning recalled the history of the department and hoped the alumni could carry forward CWU's spirit of "self-respect, self-confidence, self-support and self-improvement" and contribute to the nation's prosperity and strength.

Alumni representatives shared their experiences and achievements since graduation. They recalled their memory of campus life and encouraged students to set clear life goals, persevere in their beliefs, never give up and live a life without regrets.

Some of the alumni worked as educators, and some of them were recruited by public institutions; others were elites of famous IT companies and still others were project managers and engineers of the internet giants at home and abroad, including Alibaba, Baidu and IBM.

The alma mater event is a platform for reunion. It recalled the alumni's warm memories and marked the new starting point of the alumni's friendship, organizers said.
