CWU Releases Report on Printed Books Reading and Awards Model Readers

China Women's University (CWU) released a report on the reading of printed books stored in its library and awarded 30 model readers at a ceremony held on campus on May 15.

Deputy director of the CWU Library Shao Juan presided over the unveiling ceremony, which drew the attendance of officials from the Labor Union Department, Student Affairs Office, Graduate Students Office, School of Law, the Culture and Communication Department, School of Higher Occupational Education, and awarded faculty members as well as students.

Zhao Can, director of the Department of Document Resource Building in the CWU library, briefed attendees about the reading of printed books housed there amongst faculty staff and students from 2016 to 2017, and elaborated upon the analysis with reference to specific data and comparative figures.

A total of 11 teachers and 19 students received the Star Reader awards in recognition of their inspirational role in reading over the past two years.

Ye Hongyu, a teacher from the School of International Education and Wang Yizhu, a student from the Department of Women's Studies both emphasized the importance of the cultivation of good reading habits when sharing their insight and practice with attendees.

Ye and Wang encouraged participants to find their true heart and improve themselves through constant reading, and urged them to be outstanding young people.

Zhang Lixing, director of the Department of Information Consulting in the CWU library, talked about the cultivation of a reading habit amongst faculty members and students over the last year, announced arrangements for a reading plan this year, and pledged that the library would try its utmost to meet their demands for reading.

Zhao Yanping, a teacher from the CWU Trade Union, called on her colleagues and students to develop the habit of reading original books, hold more reflections in the process of reading, and become enthusiastic readers in their personal lives.

In addition, she announced the kick-off of a scheme to further promote the popularity of reading across campus, and distributed 20 selected books amongst target students at a side gathering.
