A speech contest was held at China Women's University (CWU) on September 28 to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

It drew the attendance of members of flag-raising teams from 46 universities across the country.

Ge Lan, 85, a famous former TV announcer and CWU professor, headed a delegation of oral presentation teachers to form the judging committee.

During their speeches, contestants relayed personal stories to convey their honor as flag-raisers and deep love for the nation.

To draw the event to a conclusion, Ge gave her professional comments on attendees' performances.
