A campaign to make family education universal will be included in the top agenda of Qingdao Municipal People's Government, east China's Shandong Province, this year, local authorities announced this week.
According to officials, the coastal city will earmark a budget of 1.5 million yuan (U.S.$ 218,058) over the following three years to better meet the public's needs in terms of professional guidance and services related to domestic education.
In addition, the financial support is expected to cover the construction of civilized families and efforts to encourage the public to raise children using modern, scientific methods.
For its part, Qingdao Women's Federation, which sponsors the campaign, will work with the local civilization office, the bureaus of finance, education, civil affairs, health and family planning, and other government agencies, to come up with several specific initiatives to ensure the campaign's success.
More specifically, a total of 100 model parenting schools and 100 model residential classes for parents will be set up to promote the campaign and increase the public's knowledge about domestic education.
Meanwhile organizers will hold 200 open lectures each year and invite professionals to speak with local parents about how to better manage their family education for the interest of their children's healthy development.
In addition to the organization of professional training for practitioners engaged in family education, local authorities will collect outstanding and inspirational family stories from the public, compile them into publications and promote them across the entire region.
