The Hunan Women's Federation (HWF), in central China, and other organizations in the province held an awards ceremony for the first Hunan Women's Entrepreneurship Innovation Competition in Changsha on September 29.
Wu Lan, deputy secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, attended the event and presented awards to the winners.
The ceremony drew the attendance of over 600 leaders and officials from the provincial Party committee cyberspace affairs office, the provincial development and reform commission, and the department of Finance, among other relevant departments.
Guests at the event also came from various industries, universities and institutions in 14 different cities, according to a spokesperson.
Since the launch of the entrepreneurship competition in April, the initiative has received widespread attention and active responses from women from every section of society. Jiang Xin, president of HWF, expressed sincere congratulations to the winners in her speech, and shared her gratitude to leaders and people from all walks of life who have supported the event.
She also encouraged women entrepreneurs to accumulate wealth, innovation and motivation; strive to achieve their dreams; and, firmly adhere to the developing principles of being innovative and open-minded.
Jiang also encouraged them to jointly build a broader stage for women's entrepreneurship and innovation under the strong leadership of the provincial Party committee and the government.
High-tech products with great commercial value; agricultural projects that help women increase their income; intangible cultural heritage crafts; and, creative environmental-protection projects were all represented at the competition.
Among the contestants were female soldiers, college students, rural leaders and farmers.
In recent years, HWF has thoroughly implemented the thoughts of President Xi Jinping on women's development, and carried out major decision-making arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council, and the provincial government on mass entrepreneurship and innovation.
HWF has also coordinated with relevant departments to implement poverty alleviation and flexible employment through entrepreneurship, promoting the initiatives including the women's entrepreneurship and innovation action, holding the lecture on female college students' entrepreneurship, and organizing a women's needlework culture and art festival and a homemaking skills competition.
In addition, HWF also created a poverty alleviation model by combing crafts and e-commerce to help local women's products be connected to the international market via the Belt and Road initiative.
At present, a total of 236 national and provincial-level poverty alleviation demonstration bases have been established by the federation, as well as over 200 workshops.
The province has also issued a total of 3.257 billion yuan in women's entrepreneurship-secured loans to 45,000 women in the past three years. Over 1 million women have increased their incomes through training on various skills such as handiwork, housekeeping and livestock breeding.
There are nearly 1,000 outstanding women entrepreneur representatives in the province, of whom over 100 have been selected as the National Outstanding Entrepreneurial Women and the National Top 100 Agricultural Women Brokers, and presented with the National Micro-entrepreneurship Awards.
