Launched by the ACWF in 1960, the awards aim to recognize women who have made outstanding achievements in their work and to motivate individuals to actively participate in social and economic development.
The activity was co-sponsored by People's Daily Online, china.org.cn, 163.com, women.org.cn, womenvoice.cn and clady.cn.
Relevant departments in charge of the campaign have collected numerous applications and nominations from across the country. After an intensive selection round, 50 applicants have been chosen to wait for public judgment between February 5-11, on the sponsor websites.
Those shortlisted include Li Ping, deputy director of the clinical medical institute at China-Japan Friendship Hospital; Yu Dan, a doctoral supervisor of Beijing Normal University; Wang Chunlu, head of Ice Hockey Department of Winter Sport Center at the General Administration of Sport; and Du Ying, director of the nuclear security emergency coordination department at the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.
