Protecting Young Girls, a fund specially launched to protect girls, offered education on preventing sexual assault to about 828,000 children and 63,000 parents in 20 provincial regions across the country last year.

The data were released at a meeting held by the Beijing All In One Foundation and the Protecting Young Girls Fund of the China Foundation of Culture and Art for Children in Beijing on May 25-26.

The fund received donations worth about 4.32 million yuan (US $626,086) and allocated about 4.42 million yuan (US $640,580) for the training campaign last year. By the end of April, more than 2.93 million children and 520,000 parents had attended such offline lessons since its establishment six years ago, according to the meeting.

In addition to offline courses, the fund also provided online lectures and training programs.

More than 10,000 people have been trained as volunteers to publicize the sexual assault prevention knowledge for children in 54 offline courses and 10 online training programs in 2018.

About 1,400 attendees became qualified lecturers for the campaign last year.

Sun Xuemei, Chairperson of the Beijing All In One Foundation, said that a world without sexual abuse was the goal of the fund, stressing that it was necessary to improve the fund's management on quality, work flow and standardization, as well as unified cultural consensus and mechanism.

Last year, the fund trained a lecturer for each school in Korla in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Qionghai in Hainan Province, and Zheng'an County in Guizhou Province, and started the A Lecturer for Each Town program in Guizhou's Taijiang County, said Tang Man, Secretary-General of Beijing All In One Foundation.

She noted that the joint efforts of local women's federations, education administrations and youth leagues helped "greatly" expand the coverage of education on children's safety.

A total of 100 lectures would be delivered by those who passed all the examinations this year, Zou added.
