Officials from Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) received a female delegation on September 5 led by Pansy Ho Chiu-king, president of Hong Kong Federation of Women (HKFW).
Ma Lanxia, president of BWF and Zhao Hongju, deputy director of the Liaison Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) attended the event.
During the special conference, Ma warmly welcomed the delegation and reviewed their visit to Hong Kong and Macao in May 2017.
She introduced the basic condition of BWF; the situation and her overall thoughts on women and children's causes in Beijing; and, the key tasks of federation reform.
Ma said the federation has been making great efforts to broaden and deepen innovations on organization, family, social work and communication, playing its unique role.
Ma said that Ho and Peggy Lam Pei Yu-dja, honorary president of the HKFW, have showed continuous support on the development of economic and social development, as well as women and children's causes in the Chinese mainland, and they have done their part in facilitating women's exchanges between Beijing and Hong Kong.
Additionally, Ma hoped the new officials of the HKFW will inherit fine traditions and proactively implemented the principle of "One Country, Two Systems" and the Basic Law, making great contributions to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.
Ma expressed her wishes for women in Hong Kong to have a pleasant trip and maintain long-term friendship with women in Beijing.
At the meeting, Ho spoke highly of the achievement and development of women and children's causes in Beijing and the municipal women's federation.
She also introduced the basic conditions of the HKFW and its measures and achievements in facilitating women's employment, improving education levels, providing medical and elderly care and cultivating young female leaders.
As the newly-elected president of the HKFW and member of the executive committee of Beijing Women's Federation, Ho said she would be dedicated to social and women affairs, and reinforcing communication between youth and women in Beijing and Hong Kong, thereby promoting the deep integration of culture, the economy and thoughts of both sides.
Song Wei, vice director of the Coordination Department in the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), said the HKFW, founded by prominent women from all sectors of society, has developed various work, building close communications and long-reaching ties with the ACWF and other organizations in China's mainland .
Song said in the future, Beijing and Hong Kong can strengthen exchanges in talent training and broaden their cooperative fields.
She added that the liaison office will continue to play its role as a bridge to providing related services and building connections between Hong Kong and China's mainland thereby promoting development and prosperity of both Hong Kong and Beijing.
The HKFW, founded in 1993, is the largest and most influential women's group to strongly support both the motherland and the HKSAR.
Upholding the principle of "One Country, Two Systems" and the Basic Law, the organization has vigorously supported the HKSAR government's administration according to law, doing its part in maintaining Hong Kong's prosperity and stability as well as women's exchanges.
According to officials, it was the first time that staff members of the HKFW had visited Beijing since the organization newly elected officials in June.
Zhao Haiying, vice-president of BWF, presided over the event.
Attendees also included senior officials from the ACWF's Liaison Department, the United Front Work Department of Beijing Municipal Party Committee; and, leaders of the United Front Work Department of Haidian District Committee and Haidian Women's Federation.
