Officials from the provincial and municipal women's federations in central China's Henan Province made preliminary checks on eligible impoverished women affected by the so-called "two cancers" on April 16.
In total, 116 women were visited as part of the Sunshine Mother Program.
Henan Women's Federation (HWF) has recently implemented target measures in poverty alleviation to enable women to get timely treatment for cervical cancer and breast cancer, according to a spokesperson.
The project provided one-off payments of 10,000 yuan to woman aged 35 to 64 who were diagnosed by relevant medical institutions.
Last year, the local Zhengzhou Women's Federation (ZWF) distributed 1.71 million yuan to 171 rural poverty-stricken women with "two cancers".
This year, 116 impoverished women met the standards to receive corresponding assistance.
ZWF official also requested women's federations in the province to actively promote the "two-cancers" aid policy, promote screening and keep up-to-date on the issue.
In accordance with the requirements, relevant data on eligible women was collected and organized, and was recorded into a data collection system so women can obtain medical assistance.
