The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) hosted a story telling session to raisepatriotic and family-minded awareness in Yudu County, East China's Jiangxi Province ahead of the anniversary of the founding of the CPC on July 1.

Yudu in Ganzhou City, East China's Jiangxi Province, is the place where the Red Army started the Long March during the revolutionary period. The Long March was a military maneuver carried out by the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army from 1934 to 1936.

Teachers, officials, ordinary people, guides at museums and representatives of the offspring of the Red Army soldiers told stories about the revolutionary history and poverty alleviation.

Zhu Huilin, a teacher from the Party school of the CPC Ruijin Municipal Committee, told the story of Yang Rongxian, a peasant from Shazhouba Village who lost his eight sons in China's revolutionary cause. The audience was deeply touched by his story.

"There were many stories like this, and it was their bravery that brought us such a happy life today. We must not forget the revolutionary martyrs," Cheng Ying, an offspring of a Red Army soldier in Yudu County, said tearfully.

Li Cailian, a villager, left Chi Yuhua, Li's wife, and joined the Red Army. Chi waited for her husband for 72 years,  however she was finally informed that her husband had died on the battlefield.

In addition to Chi, there were also wives of Red Army soldiers, such as Chen Fa gu and Duan Gui xiu, who waited for their husbands for many years.

The story of 17 pine trees happened in Huangsha Village in Yeping Town of Ruijin. Seventeen local young men planted 17 pine trees on a nearby hill before they joined the Long March in 1934. They promised to return home after the victory of the revolution. Unfortunately, none of them returned but the pine seedlings have grown into towering trees after more than 80 years.
