Organized by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund and the organizing committee of the National Community Care Campaign Office, a charity project of maternal and child nutrition program was launched in Beijing on May 24.

The 1,000 days in the early stage of life refers to the period from the mother's pregnancy to when the child reaches 2 years old, which is a crucial stage for a child's growth and development.

The project will launch free courses on pregnancy nutrition, healthcare and newborn baby care in many cities, serving for maternal families of different regions across the country.

In the following three years, the project will focus on popularizing maternal and child-care knowledge to maternal families and organizing training courses for medical staff at maternal and child care service centers and maternal care schools in more than 20 cities, including Beijing, Tianjin and Guangzhou.

The project will also organize a number of famous experts with the Center for Maternal and Child Health under the China Center for Disease Prevention and Control, to jointly compile a health manual for the 1,000 days of mother and baby, giving concise and scientific instruction on high-risk pregnancy, allergy prevention, pregnancy nutrition and baby care for maternal families.

Chen Xiurong, Vice-President of China Children and Teenagers' Fund and former Vice-President of the All-China Women's Federation, attended the launching ceremony.
