With a theme of "Blooming Flowers in the New Era", the annual Children's Day gala concluded on June 1.

In the 100-minute show, 17 acts were performed, including dancing, singing, drama, acrobatics, martial arts and a magic show, offering audiences a feast for the eyes.

"A series of important topics, including the Chinese Dream, the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up policy, poverty alleviation and cultural confidence have been well-integrated into these art shows, a reflection of the happiness and positive attitude toward life among Chinese children," said Xu Peipei, director of the gala.

The stage was filled with scientific and technological elements. Making full use of the lighting and stage facilities of the studio, the gala also designed a new radial LED screen, which was suspended over the central stage.

Through a multi-screen setup and a kinetic set infrastructure, the gala created a three-dimensional stage space filled with flowers, echoing the gala's theme.

The opening theme song Blooming Flowers in the New Era was tailor-made by well-known artists, lyricist Yang Qifang and composer Shu Nan. The simple bright melody matched the performers' childlike innocence well.

As this year's theme, it was released in two versions: normal and live versions. The live version includes 410 actors holding a variety of flowers — a scene that transforms the stage into an amazing garden.

One of the highlights in the gala was the magic act presented by French twins.

Two brothers, Tony and Jordan, brought their Wonder Brothers show to the audience. As soon as they finished their performance, thunderous applause broke out.

The French digital magician duo first gained international recognition after appearing on season 12 of the TV show America's Got Talent. What makes them unique is that they are identical twins.

They love to combine technology and magic, producing unbelievable effects. Their magic tricks are rich, visual, engaging and incredibly entertaining. The audience can barely follow what is going on.

Extensive and profound, Chinese culture has a long history. At the gala, children come up with their own ways to pay tribute to the fine cultural traditions of China. A girl of the Yi ethnic group named Jihao Youguo from Daliangshan in Southwest China's Sichuan province also sung a patriotic song, How Beautiful Is the National Flag, onstage.

According to her, it was her wish to sing songs on a bigger stage. She hoped her voice could reach more families and bring happiness to more people. Now, her dream has come true.

The gala was produced by the China Media Group, which was officially inaugurated on April 19 this year after a combination of China Central Television (CCTV), China Global Television Network (CGTN), China National Radio (CNR) and China Radio International (CRI).
