Crafts expert Hao Xianyi and his wife Li Jinhua recently made a series of special paper-cuts on the theme of "Greeting the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC)".

Hao, 78, from Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said the series captures a scene of locals welcoming the upcoming congress and reflects the prosperity that has been achieved since the 18th CPC National Congress.

"We have been working for over a month. My husband drew the patterns and I cut them out. Sometimes we worked till midnight," said Hao's wife.

"We should thank the Party and the country for the happy days we have now. I hope our lives become better and better and that our country becomes more and more prosperous," Hao added.
