Song Xiuyan, vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), on December 6 held talks with grassroots officials attending the latest training session organized by the ACWF in Beijing.

The theme of the session was the implementation of the latest spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which was held in Beijing in from October 18-24.

The ACWF plans to organize two workshops involving participants who serve as presidents of around 400 prefecture-level women's federations across the nation.

Remarks from Song Xiuyan

"It is the first time that the ACWF has held such plenary session among prefecture-level organizational presidents. This initiative reveals the Party leadership group of the ACWF acts in line with the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at the core who urges the implementation of the Congress spirit," Song said.

"It is also an opportunity for officials to share their work methods and experiences in connecting women from the general population and solving women's problems. The ACWF hopes to receive suggestions and opinions from officials about grassroots surveys," she added.

Song also discussed the advancement of women's federation reform and many activities, which generated much discussion among attendees.

The Looking for the Most Beautiful Family campaign initiated by the ACWF aims to make use of organizational strength in uniting women to follow the CPC leadership and learn about following a positive social ethos in life, noted Song.

In terms of government-funded social services for the benefit of women and children, Song noted women's federations should encourage governments to issue related polices and service programs in this respect, as an organization which serves as a bridge linking the Party, government and women. As for the ACWF, it focuses on "top-level design" and overall guidance in this regard.

Connecting and serving women is the lifeline of women's federations. The key to organizational reform is uniting women at the grassroots level, along with the development of Women's Home activity centers online.

Song urged federations to involve capable women into the organization as executive committee members or vice-presidents in order to better connect with and serve women.

Township-level organizations should follow the Party leadership; work to meet the demands of women; and, act in line with the upper-level federations, Song said.

Finally, Song reiterated the importance of fully implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

Feedback from Trainees

Attendees said the session enabled them to share work experiences, improve their capabilities, and promote work methods in implementing the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and advancing organizational reform.

Officials also pledged to promote the Congress spirit among people; fulfill their job responsibilities of uniting women in following the CPC leadership; encourage women to play their role of "holding up half of the sky"; and, safeguard women's rights and interests.
