A young passenger from Qingdao, east China's Shandong province, recently received widespread praise from members of the public, after the video clip that recorded her helping out an old lady on a city bus went viral.

Zhang Yumin, 23, is a saleswoman at a digital product store in Qingdao.

On December 1, when she was on her way to work, she suddenly noticed a senior passenger trying to tie her own shoelaces many times but failing repeatedly.

Zhang worried the old lady might fall because she was perched on a high seat. Therefore, she plucked up the courage to help the woman before getting off.

The old lady was deeply moved by Zhang's conduct and decided to thank her in person. Finally, she found Zhang with the help of citizens who watched the clip.

When they met again on December 7, the old woman hugged Zhang tightly and gave her a bouquet of flowers to express her gratitude.

"This was really nothing. It was a small matter and I did what I should," smiled Zhang.

Facing her sudden popularity, Zhang said she hopes to inspire more people to respect and show care for the elderly.

Later, in order to promote positive energy, the company decided to award Zhang with the title of Honored Passenger, which was a first for Qingdao Bus.
