Famous singer Susan Huang joined a medical team from the Han Hong Charity Foundation on August 19 to assist in providing free services to locals in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, northwest China.

It was the first time Huang had helped out in such a way, but she learned fast after attending a special assistant training course beforehand.

In addition to working as an assistant in the pharmacy, she also volunteered as a porter to carry supplies.

She said, “When you help others, you find out that what you give away is more valuable than what you receive.”

When asked her motivation for joining the event, she said, “I have been a good friend with [charity founder] Han Hong for years. She invited me to join her team and I agreed without hesitation.”

Huang also stated that she greatly appreciated Han for her selfless devotion to medical causes over the past seven years.

The medical aid team made donations towards the construction of a vision restoration center and helped 200 people regain their sight.

The team contributed their services in 10 emergency rooms, provided free emergency training courses for grassroots doctors, and gave two large-scale lectures.

They also organized nine free medical consultation sessions en route, offering free treatments and subsequent medical assistance for patients who are severely ill and living under the poverty line.

Furthermore, the group gave away 30 specially customized vehicles which will operate as free clinics, and distributed 17,000 first-aid kits.
