Canada will hold the first meeting of female foreign ministers on September 21 to discuss how to improve women's status around the world, according to Japanese media.

The meeting will be hosted by Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, who is also the chairperson of the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

The First Female Foreign Ministers' Meeting, organized in association with the European Union, will be held in Toronto.

There are currently 30 countries whose foreign ministers' positions are taken by women, according to information from the Canadian government.

Canada already organized a banquet attended by some female foreign ministers on April 21, where the only male guest was Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono.

Freeland joked, "I am familiar with the situation that there was only one woman foreign minister at the G7 Meeting. I think Taro Kono can understand my feelings about that because he has put forward many suggestions."
