The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) recently appointed two female ministerial and provincial officials in southwest China.

Both in the 50s, the two officials are Tian Xiangli and Li Jing.

Tian was elected as member of the Standing Committee and member of the Sichuan Provincial CPC Committee.

Meanwhile, Li was elected as member of the Standing Committee and member of the Chongqing Municipal CPC Committee.

Tian has worked in north China’s Hebei Province since 2008. It will be the first time that she has served as an official in a province elsewhere in the country.

Li joined the Party in 1983 and took up her political career the following year. She has worked in the city of Meishan in Chongqing for around 11 years. Li is also an alternate member of the 19th CPC Central Committee.
