An outstanding female mixologist and bar manager in the city of Taiyuan, north China's Shanxi Province, has dedicated herself to promoting cocktails for over nine years.

Wang Jie, 27, works every day from 6:00 p.m to 4:00 a.m. Because her hairstyle and dress make her look like a man, staff and regular customers usually call her "bro".

She always performs with flair while mixing, usually attracting many customers.

In the eyes of others, what she does is cool. However, for her, it is a skill she has developed after thousands of hours of practice.

"It's like a form of kung fu. If I wasn't ready, I wouldn't dare to do any of the dangerous tricks," she said.

She has also been invited to mix at some activities including the openings of shopping malls, earning an income ranging from 1,000-2,000 yuan each time.

"I wanted to be a DJ before," she said, but later found it could affect her hearing.

She has been to Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, Beijing and other cities, and practiced and studied in various bars.

Over the past nine years, she has worked in nearly 100 bars, during which time she has improved her skills and increased her salary.

Last year, she opened a bar which was modestly-sized but had a fantastic atmosphere. She also made many friends. Unfortunately her bar closed after a short while. She already has plans to open another one.

In recent years, she has participated in various cocktail tournaments and competitions. Meanwhile she has also accumulated knowledge about cocktails.

Cocktails mostly use international spirits and liqueurs. Now, she wants to put more Chinese ingredients into her drinks.

"A lot of Chinese liquor such as Wuliangye, Fenjiu all win foreigners' preference. But few are being put into cocktails. I hope to promote them to the world," she concluded.
