Accordingly, the two organizations have raised around 2.2 billion yuan (U.S.$ 318,494,390) through a series of charity projects, benefiting over 27 million disadvantaged women and children.

Specifically, the charity programs included the Spring Bud project; Water Cellar for Mothers; Health Express for Mothers; and, the Children's Happy Home centers.

Shen's Speech

The Party Central Committee and the State Council have attached great importance to the development of the country's charitable causes, especially since the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress was held in 2012, Shen said.

The CPC Central Committee with President Xi Jinping as the core set the advancement of charity undertakings as one of the nation's top priorities as recognized in the first Charity Law implemented in September last year.

Under the latest rules, enterprises and people of all segments of society have been encouraged to pay more attention to women and children's charity undertakings, Shen stated.

Aside from this, more and more companies have played active roles in fulfilling their social responsibilities of helping impoverished people by providing significant donations.

Such trends are positive for the development of women and children's charity causes as an increasing number of people have started shown their care and assistance to others in need, Shen commented.

In addition, Shen called on all attendees to firmly establish the so-called “Four Consciousnesses,” namely consciousness of the ideology, the whole, the core and the line, and make great efforts to fully carry out President Xi's decision on advancing the country's charity undertakings.

Meanwhile, Shen emphasized the importance of enhancing the public's sense of responsibility and mission in protecting women and children.

Moreover, she urged relevant departments across the country to actively publicize charity-minded enterprises and individuals' good deeds, inspiring more people to take part in relevant causes.

Furthermore, families are expected to play a positive role in promoting good social morals. Shen encouraged the CCTF and CWDF to be strict in their management and operation, and try their best to carry forward women and children's charitable undertakings.

Finally, Shen expressed her hope that all women nationwide can follow the path of the Party and make outstanding achievements to welcome the upcoming 19th CPC National Congress.
