A signing ceremony of a WeChat business start-Up fund developed by China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) was held in Beijing on December 5.

The event was initiated by China Women's News, aiming to create a sound environment for women's entrepreneurship and innovation, encourage more women, especially those in poverty-stricken areas and female college students, to start businesses based on WeChat, help them realize self-reliance, and explore new methods for targeted poverty alleviation.

According to organizers, the fund is mainly used to support the operation of activities related to the 2017 WeChat Business Entrepreneurship and Innovation Contest for Chinese Women, in response to the State Council's major policy decision on public entrepreneurship and innovation.

In the future, the fund will also set up a public welfare platform focusing on WeChat shop owners so as to promote the development of women's businesses.

In addition, the opening ceremony of the 2017 WeChat Business Entrepreneurship and Innovation Contest for Chinese Women will take place on December 29 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Jointly initiated by China Women's News and warm-hearted social entrepreneurs, the contest will fully demonstrate the overall situation of female entrepreneurs who start a business on WeChat, their passion and entrepreneurial spirits.

The co-organizers also included the Internet Society of China and the National School of Advertising.
