A book compiled according to a cultural inheritance program Thank You, My Family, launched by CCTV (Central China Television) International Channel, was published in Beijing on June 23.
The book consists of 54 stories of families at home and abroad, filled with plain expression and affectionate memories, fully presenting Chinese family traditions, and winning praise from compatriots around the world.
Apart from these stories, some of the wonderful interviews that were not broadcast were appended together with relevant classic readings or reviews, clearly presenting the context and content of Chinese family traditions and demonstrating the inheritance of family tradition at multiple levels.
A reporter Xie Ping from Russia has been living in China for 15 years with his Chinese wife. His wife said, "My father has always been very strict with me being a moral person with integrity, someone who is kind, honest, responsible and respects others. He always told me that being lazy is one of the most shameful traits, thus a self-respecting person can only be created through arduous efforts."
Qi Huijuan, granddaughter of renowned Chinese painter Qi Baishi, also told the story of her family traditions as taught by her father, including that of being prudent in handling affairs.
Experts concluded that since ancient times, the Chinese nation has had cultural awareness of the relationship between the family, country and world, has brought together the history of a successful family and carved out the strength and character of the nation.
