The Central Party School Publishing House recently released the book Gender Equality in a Changing Society, which presents Chinese scholars' efforts in promoting gender equality policy.
In order to explore an essential strategy to tackle the root causes of imbalance sex ratio of births, officials from the Center for Women's Studies at the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China brought together a group of experts and scholars to establish a special research team in 2008 to promote gender equality policy.
Through conducting social investigations in rural areas and towns, offering training courses at all levels, collecting and studying a large number of documents home and abroad, and putting forward suggestions, the project team has made substantial progress and breakthroughs, and has gained useful preliminary experiences as well as valuable insights into the matter.
The book is a summary and reflection of the results that have been achieved so far, with forward-looking and challenging opinions and cases which are typical and instructive. Its chief editor is Ding Donghong.
