China-UK Women's Cultural Festival

China-UK Women's Cultural Festival held from February 10 to February 17 in the United Kingdom aimed to further enhance mutual understanding between women of the two countries.The festival was jointly organized by the All-China Women's Federation, London Mayor's Office and Organizing Committee for China Now, in cooperation with Asia House.

During the Festival, Gu Xiulian, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) met with many British officials including Sir Baroness Hayman, Lord Speaker of Britain, Sir Alan Haselhurst, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons of Britain, and Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London. Both sides highly praised the China-UK Women’s Cultural Festival, believing that communication and cooperation between Chinese and British women could help improve understanding and friendship between peoples from the two countries.
