Song Xiuyan, vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), attended the opening ceremony of the 15th Shanghai Women's Congress, and inspected work of Shanghai Women's Federation from April 24-26.

During the trip to Shanghai, Li Qiang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, met with Song.

Upon inspecting the work of Shanghai Women's Federation (SWF), Song said: "Women's federations have an extensive base among the general population, so we must attach great significance to grassroots work."

"Our organization's work should center on the major tasks of the Party and the government and aim to create a well-off life for the people," she added.

After her tour, Song highly praised the reform work of SWF.

"Under the leadership of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, SWF has achieved tremendous progress in its reform, setting a good example for women's federations across the country," Song noted.

"I hope Shanghai maintains its advantages by continuing to explore new approaches to reform," she added.

Song also urged women's federations at all levels to implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and blaze new trails in a pioneering spirit.
