Chinese Women's Delegation Visits Iran, Armenia

 December 29, 2018

A Chinese women's handicraft cultural exchange delegation visited Iran and Armenia from June 8-15, 2015.

The delegation of 15 was headed by Luo Ning, president of Guizhou Women's Federation, in southwest China, and honorary president of the Guizhou Women's Handicrafts Association.

The delegation visited Armenia after attending the fourth international exposition on handicrafts in Iran.

The delegation was comprised of women proficient in the development, creation and sale of handicrafts, female entrepreneurs, representatives of women's hand knitting associations at grassroots levels and officials of women's federations from six provinces.

By attending the exposition and symposium and conducting field surveys, members of the delegation learned a lot about Iran's and Armenia's economic and social development, women's employment and women's participation in the handicraft industry.

The visit shows three features.

First, it has a distinctive theme. Since the establishment of the delegation, it has centered on the handicrafts cultural exchange.

In Iran, members of the delegation not only attended the exposition, but also paid a field visit to the country's carpet museum and pearl museum. In Armenia, they took part in a fashion show combining traditional and modern elements.

The tour helped members learn more about the handicraft culture of the two countries and strengthen the international communication and cooperation between women in different countries through handicrafts.

Second, it involves profound exchange.

In Iran, they had a profound discussion with a member of parliament doubling as counselor of minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade of Iran as well as officials engaging in women's work.

They communicated with the vice-chief of the national assembly and president of the women's committee of the Republican Party of Armenia, after which they visited a hydraulic power plant and wine factory established by a female entrepreneur of Armenia.

Through the symposium and survey, they came to learn about the economic and social development and the demand for cooperation of the two countries and shared with them information about the economic and social development, women's development and the achievements of handicraft industry in China, which earned high praise from people in both countries and paved a good path for women's friendly exchanges.

Third, it highlights members' active participation.

Before the visit, each member in the delegation received a training which highlighted the rules that they should observe in foreign countries. Each of them was also assigned to take charge of different duties.

Attracted by the handicraft culture of Iran and Armenia, each member took part in the exposition, symposium and survey carefully and actively.

This was especially true with the six entrepreneurs who actively learned about the market and looked for business opportunities in the exposition. In the symposium, they actively introduced their companies' development and experience in hand knitting, thus arousing the cooperation intention of relevant officials and female entrepreneurs of the two countries.
