President Xi Jinping has commended national role-models for demonstrating the positive spirit of the nation in a written instruction.

Xi called for promotion of moral characters to enable the public to learn from them and spread positive energy, as national moral models gathered in Beijing for a symposium on October 13.

Xi stressed continued education on social ethics, boosting traditional virtues as well as socialist core values among Chinese people to better serve social development.

At the symposium, Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, called on CPC leading officials to take the lead in learning from moral models, in a bid to build social morality and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

Chinese people should implement socialist core values and incorporate good ethics and virtues into economic and social development, people's daily lives and work, family traditions and education, Liu said.
