The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) hosted a training workshop among a group of 28 women from five southeast-Asian countries in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from September 19-28, 2016.
The participants at the Workshop on Practical Skills Training for Women of Lancang-Mekong Countries included director-generals, trainee lecturers and female officials of training centers for women in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
The 10-day event aimed to: celebrate the 25th anniversary of relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which fell on September 7, 2016; strengthen exchange and cooperation between organizations and institutes in relation to women's issues; deepen friendship among women from two sides; and, to promote the progress of the Belt and Road initiative.
To help the visitors learn more about Chinese women's lives and the concrete efforts undertaken by the women's federations to promote the employment of both rural and urban women across the country, participants went to several demonstrative bases where local women have been provided with flexible work via enterprises, and have learned weaving crafts as well as other practical skills.
For their part, the trainees expressed their thanks to the ACWF for its sponsoring of their tour in China. They also gave high praise to the efforts and achievements made by Chinese government and the women's federations in the succession of traditional Chinese culture and the promotion of women's development in the past few years.
