July will mark the 110th anniversary of the National Museum of China in Beijing. The museum recently announced a diverse program, including conferences, forums and exhibitions, to celebrate its transformation into a cultural institution of international influence.
Activities will include a grand meeting on July 9 attended by personalities representing government departments and museums, as well as private collectors and other figures who have contributed to the museum's advancement throughout the decades. Three exhibitions will review the museum's efforts in assembling its collection, archaeological excavations and artifact conservation and preservation.
The National Museum is one of the country's leading players in intensifying international exchanges of art and culture. The museum has initiated an online campaign, teaming up with dozens of museums at home and abroad to show their collections respectively. On July 11, it will hold the second forum attended by museum directors from across the world, addressing new challenges of museums in a different world. Two international exhibitions will be open in July, one showing objects of ancient Rome and another gathering archaic bronzes from China, Japan and South Korea.
