XI'AN, July 9 (Xinhua) — An Italian art exhibition, which was held in China's Xi'an, offered an artistic perspective on how the ancient Silk Road had promoted cultural exchanges along the route.
The exhibition, named "Italian Contemporary Art and Artists on the Silk Road", concluded on Sunday in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province. It presented over 30 works of 33 Italian artists spanning multiple generations.
Starting from Italy, the country where the Silk Road ends, the touring exhibition has traveled back in time, taking contemporary Italian art to different stations, including Ankara, Tbilisi, Tashkent, and finally arrived in Xi'an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road.
As a major fruit of the China-Italy Year of Culture and Tourism, this international touring exhibition was presented by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Garuzzo Foundation.
