The 10th China-France Seminar to Combat Domestic Violence was held in Beijing on November 25, 2024. The seminar was cohosted by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the French Embassy in China. It was organized by China Women's University (CWU). Lin Yi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, Myriam Pavageau, Minister Counsellor of the French Embassy in China, Valérie Delnaud, Director of Civil Affairs and the Seal of the Ministry of Justice of France, and Liu Yamei, Secretary of the Party Committee of CWU, delivered remarks to open the seminar.
Representatives of and scholars with judicial institutions, procuratorial institutions, legal associations, women's federations, and academic agencies, in China and France, participated in discussions on various topics, including judicial practices in anti-domestic violence and fresh progress in social governance. Participants agreed Chinese President Xi Jinping made a state visit to France earlier this year, during which Xi and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, celebrated the 60th anniversary of China-France diplomatic ties, which has provided strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations under new circumstances.
During the seminar, participants from both sides agreed to deepen exchanges and mutual learning, advance the transformation and application of their research outcomes, explore ways to empower anti-domestic-violence efforts through artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies, strengthen international cooperation, and work toward progress in the global cause to combat domestic violence.
The seminar was a signature event under the China-France High-level Mechanism for Dialogue on People-to-people Exchanges. More than 150 representatives, from relevant sectors of the two countries, attended, either in person or online.
