Huang Meets Bolivian Foreign Minister

Huang Xiaowei, Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), also Vice-Chairperson of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, met Celinda Sosa Lunda, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia in Beijing on April 29.

 

Under the strategic leadership of the two heads of State, China-Bolivia relations and pragmatic cooperation in various fields have maintained sound development, Huang said. Chinese President
Xi Jinping stressed in a phone conversation with his Bolivian counterpart, Luis Arce, that China has always treated Bolivia as a good friend and a good partner, and attached great importance to the China-Bolivia strategic partnership, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations between China and Bolivia. Huang noted women's exchanges represent an important component of the friendship between the people of China and Bolivia. 

Huang expressed the willingness to work with Bolivian side to earnestly implement the important common understandings and outcomes reached by the two heads of State, deepen pragmatic cooperation in women's affairs, continuously enrich the connotation of the China-Bolivia strategic partnership, and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

President Xi attaches great importance to women's development, Huang noted. During the 13th National Women's Congress of China (held in October 2023), Xi, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, led Standing Committee Members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in attending the congress' opening meeting. Xi delivered an important speech during a talk with the new leadership of the ACWF; Xi's discourses on the work related to women and children as well as the work of women's federations, and Xi's discourses on the importance of family, family education and virtues have provided the guiding principles for women's cause and women's federations' work on a new journey of the new era, Huang said. 

Huang highlighted achievements reached in Chinese women's undertakings in the new era and ACWF's major work. In particular, she mentioned the Spring Bud Project, which received the 2023 UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Prize for Girls' and Women's Education.

Sosa praised China for the remarkable achievements it has made in women's cause and ACWF's outstanding work under CPC's leadership. Sosa said she hoped to learn from China's successful practices, especially on the protection of women's rights and interests and on the advancement of women's all-round development. She also hoped to enhance women's communications and cooperation, help advance the China-Bolivia strategic partnership, and make joint efforts to promote the building of a just and fair international order.

Lin Yi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, Esteban Elmer Catarina, Vice-Foreign Minister of Bolivia, Hugo Siles, Bolivian Ambassador to China, and relevant officials from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting.
