November 25 was the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. To mark that day, the Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China (SPC) and All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) released details of five typical cases on anti-domestic violence. The SPC and ACWF wanted to raise the public's awareness of and attention to anti-domestic violence, to effectively protect the lawful rights and interests of women and children, who are often victims of domestic violence, and to send a powerful message to perpetrators and potential perpetrators.
The five cases, involving typical domestic violence crimes such as abuse, intentional homicide and intentional injuries, included spousal abuse, child abuse, murders, and a violation of personal safety orders. Victims included family members and non-family members living with the perpetrators.
