The Women's Federation of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, together with six other government departments and organizations, promoted the "Taking Love Home" campaign which offers better care to disadvantaged children during the winter vacation in Yinchuan, capital of the autonomous region, on January 9.
The campaign, which was initiated by the All-China Women's Federation, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and several other departments and organizations last December, aims to bring care to disadvantaged children during the winter vacation and the Spring Festival.
During the promotion event, a group of special volunteers' teams were established to serve the campaign. Representatives of volunteers called on more social forces to participate in the campaign. Experts gave lectures on family education for the families attending the ceremony. A parents' school was also given its plaque.
More than 400 people, including officials from the departments of civil affairs and public security, family education experts, cadres and officials and members of the executive committees of the women's federations, attended the event.
Women's federations at all levels in Ningxia have organized various activities to care for local children since last December.
Ningxia Women and Children's Activity Center hosted a lecture tour about parent-child reading and family education. The activity center, the Women's Federation of Wuzhong City and the Women's Federation of Litong District visited a children's welfare center in Wuzhong City, to give care and warmth to the children. The Women's Federation of Yinchuan City offered art education to children in resettlement villages. The Women's Federation of Shizuishan City brought sweaters to impoverished children.
According to the three themed activities — "Taking Good Family Traditions Home," "Taking Law and Safety Home" and "Taking Social Care Home," the autonomous region's federation will held various activities during the winter holiday.
Volunteers from all walks of life will conduct home visits to the families of disadvantaged children and left-behind children whose parents have migrated to other places for work.
Experts will also give lectures on family education, good family traditions, personal safety, girls' protection and legal knowledge in schools, communities and villages.
