Women's Federations Across Country Bring Warmth to Frontline Medical Staff

President Xi Jinping has called for great attention to the protection and care for medical workers to make sure they are healthy and stay focused on winning the battle against the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Women's federations at all levels across the country have responded to the call quickly and offered various services to frontline medical workers and their families to help relieve their anxiety and pressure during the epidemic outbreak.

NW China's Shaanxi Province Caters to Needs of Medical Workers' Families

Women's federations in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province have taken various measures to care for the medical workers' families. The women's federations have recorded the demands and difficulties of the frontline medical staff and their families and helped them solve their problems. Stories of the frontline medical workers and their families have been publicized to strengthen confidence in winning the fight against the COVID-19.

Volunteers' teams, composed of members of the executive committees of the women's federations, Party members, women volunteers and domestic workers, have been established to offer one-on-one services to the medical workers' families, such as housekeeping and elderly and child care. Psychological consulting services have been offered to medical staff and their family members through the hotline "12338." Free daily necessities and fresh vegetables have been delivered to the medical workers' families with the help of social forces.

Woman Olympic Champion Donates to Medical Workers' Families in Anhui, Her Hometown

Meng Suping from East China's Anhui Province, who was gold medal winner in the women's over 75kg weightlifting at the Rio Olympic Games, donated 100,000 yuan (US $14,282) to the Women and Children Development Foundation of Anhui Province. Her coach Xu Yan donated 10,000 yuan (US $1,428.2) to the foundation.

Their donation has been used to purchase daily necessities for 138 local families with medical staff working on the frontline in the fight against the COVID-19 in Anhui and Central China's Hubei Province, the epicenter of the epidemic outbreak. The "loving packages" consisting of materials and consolation letters have been sent to the medical workers' families.

SE China's Hainan Women's Federation Delivers Food

The Women's Federation of Hainan Province, Hainan Provincial Health Commission and a local charity foundation jointly held an activity of caring for the local families with medical staff aiding the fight against the COVID-19 in Hubei Province.

A total of 307 medical workers' families in the province have benefited from it. They have received fresh vegetables, fruits, edible oil and eggs worth 150 yuan (US $21.41) once a week for free since February 15.

S China's Guangzhou City Offers Free Services

The Women's Federation of Guangzhou City, in South China's Guangdong Province, has joined hands with local departments and organizations to offer free services to 1,500 households with medical workers fighting against the COVID-19 in designated hospitals in Guangzhou.

The free services include the delivery of vegetables and fruits twice a week, maternal and child care, psychological consultation and online courses for children. The housekeeping services will be offered to the families once a week.

E China's Liaocheng City Provides Housekeeping Service

The Women's Federation of Liaocheng City, East China's Shandong Province, has mobilized domestic workers and housekeeping companies to arrange free housekeeping services to the family members of medical workers aiding the fight against the COVID-19 in Hubei. The service began on February 12.

E China's Nantong City Brings Warmth to Medical Workers' Families 

The Women's Federation of Nantong City, East China's Jiangsu Province, mobilized all sectors of society to care for local families with medical staff aiding the epidemic outbreak in Hubei. The federation has delivered 30 masks and two bottles of disinfectant to each household. The local enterprises have donated vegetables, fruits, cereals, edible oil and snacks to the families. The telecommunication operators have offered free communication services. Other kinds of services, including family education and psychological consultation, have also provided to the medical workers' families.  

N China's Tangshan Launches 'Three-on-One' Mechanism to Support Medical Workers' Families

The Women's Federation of Tangshan City, N China's Hebei Province, has organized activities to care for the families of the frontline medical workers. The city's federation mobilized members of the executive committees of the women's federations at all levels in the city, grassroots women workers in villages, and women entrepreneurs and volunteers to offer services to these families. A woman official, a woman entrepreneur and a woman volunteer have paired with a medical worker's family. They contact with the family members regularly, to learn and meet their needs and help solve their difficulties.
