On the occasion of the 32nd National Patriotic Health Month that is marked every April, the Women's Federation of Chongqing Municipality and relevant government departments issued a notice to encourage the families in Southwest China's Chongqing to participate in the work of environment purification and beautification and the Action for Building Green Families, aiming to unite and guide families to build beautiful homes by adhering to the concept of green development and living healthy lifestyle.
"The method of folding clothes and quilts is very practical. I will refold the clothes and quilts after going back home. It will definitely help me save more space," said a villager surnamed Liu when she attended an activity of teaching local women housekeeping skills on April 3 in Yufeng Village in Rongchang District in Chongqing.
The activity was held by the Women's Federation of Rongchang District, which launched a pilot project of improving living environment in Yufeng earlier this year. The federation has held online and offline courses to promote the knowledge about tidying up rooms and items, sorting garbage and cultivating health habits in a bid to help rural women improve their living environment.
Women volunteers and officials of the district's women's federation also visited impoverished families to help them clean up their courtyards and rooms, and teach them how to do household chores in a better way on site.
Some 24 women volunteers' teams have been set up by the Women's Federation of Yongchuan District and 23 women's federations of towns and sub-districts in the district. The volunteers' teams are expected to tidy up the rooms and courtyards, create clean and healthy living environment together with registered impoverished families, trying to help them cultivate good living habits.
The volunteers also publicized hygienic knowledge to the villagers from door to door, and put up more than 8,200 posters to call for the residents to maintain sanitation and ensure the preventive measures of the novel coronavirus.
The Women's Federation of Shapingba District organized its staff members and executive committee members and women volunteers to clean up everywhere around the neighborhood buildings.
The Women's Federation of Shandong Sub-district mobilized female employees to plant flowers around a square on a voluntary basis, surrounding it with 200 square meters of cornflowers and Galsang flowers.
The sub-district's women's federation also issued a proposal of garbage sorting through WeChat groups, encouraged women to show their balconies and well-cultivated bonsai and plants on social platforms and boosted women's awareness and abilities of building green homes and neighborhood.
This year, the municipality's women's federation will continue to guide the families to improve ecological civilization, save resources, maintain green consumption and green traveling, and purify and beautify the living environment.
