A team led by Xu Fengmei, Deputy Director-General of the Social Affairs Bureau of Hengqin New District and President of the Women's Federation of Hengqin New District, in Zhuhai City of South China's Guangdong Province, visited a women's innovation and entrepreneurship incubation base to learn about the enterprises' epidemic prevention and control work, and the work and production resumption. It intended to help the enterprises solve their problems, and to present them with epidemic prevention materials.
The district's women's federation called for donations of preventive equipment from all sectors of society to help local companies speed up the work and production resumption with epidemic prevention and control measures.
It has received positive responses from women's federations, social organizations and caring people in Hengqin New District and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
The federation distributed the donations — more than 3,000 pieces of anti-epidemic materials, including masks and goggles — to 32 units on the front line of the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The incubation base issued special regulations to waive the total rent and half of the property management fees in the first quarter of this year for eight enterprises in the base.
At present, the second executive committee of the district's women's federation has 42 members, nine percent of whom are from the Hong Kong and Macao SARs, and over 80 percent of whom are outstanding women representatives from all walks of life.
The district's women's federation has innovated and reformed the women's federations at grassroots level in the past 10 years. The federation formulated and published the reform plan of the women's federations and it rallied financial support from the local government.
Each community and village has been allocated special funds to ensure the high-quality activities in the women and children's home since 2019.
Up to now, nearly 20 organs, units and public institutions in Hengqin have set up women's committees, and three communities have completed the reform of women's organizations at grassroots level on schedule.
Xu said the federation will grasp the development opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, make full use of its strengths to serve women and help solve their difficulties, trying to enhance their sense of fulfillment, happiness and security in the next 10 years.
