Nanjing Women's Federation Helps Boost Consumption

A campaign to boost women's consumption was launched before the May Day holiday by the Women's Federation of Nanjing City, in East China's Jiangsu Province, in response to the city's upgrading project involving new infrastructure, consumption and industries.

Officials from women's federations and representatives of women entrepreneurs were encouraged to go shopping in Nanjing Cenbest, a time-honored department store located in the Xinjiekou Business Area, on April 30, which was the first stop of the series of activities of the campaign.

Xia Yang, President of the Women's Federation of Jiangning District, spent 300 yuan to buy a handmade toy. "It's so cute and I will give it to my friend's kid. Going shopping is really a joy as the epidemic eases. Women can go out for shopping during the May Day holiday as a way of supporting the economic recovery in Nanjing," Xia said.

The campaign, taking the advantages of the local women's federations, women entrepreneurs, role model women's teams, March 8th Red-banner holders (an honor given by women's federations to women role models) and most beautiful families (an honor given by women's federations to families with fine culture and traditions), to encourage women to consume in business zones, provide quality service to customers or promote commodities via e-commerce and livestreaming platforms so as to boost Nanjing's economic growth.

"Xinjiekou is one of the most intensive business areas in China. It has a large number of high-end commercial buildings and gathered nearly 100 Fortune 500 enterprises, multinational companies and corporate headquarters. More than 60 percent of the 450,000 employees in the area are women," said Wang Xiaoyu, President of the Women's Federation of Jinlinghui Community in Gulou District.

According to the campaign, the women's federations and associations of women entrepreneurs will cooperate to create fashionable and attractive consumption environments in women's entrepreneurship and innovation incubation bases, in a bid to stimulate the consumption potential of women and their families. A series of brand activities will also be held to facilitate consumption.

In addition, by using livestreaming platforms, the city's women's federation will further publicize stories of outstanding entrepreneurs, heads of the women's demonstration bases and pioneers who are leading women to shake off poverty and become rich. The female role models will also be invited to promote commodities in the livestreaming shows.
