Small Wishes Show Big Love

 July 1, 2020

A book, a football, a new set of paintbrushes, a new bed sheet … all these small wishes have been realized through donations of kindness by loving people from all walks of life in Jining City, East China's Shandong Province.

Since this March, more than 2,700 children and women's wishes have been realized via a poverty-relief charity activity launched by the Jining Women's Federation.

With the theme of Fulfilling Wishes and Lighting up Hope, the activity aims to collect wishes of children and women from impoverished families and calls for people to help them realize their expectations via paired-up assistance.

Since its launch, it has attracted widespread participation by all sectors of society. After the wishes of more than 2,000 children and women from impoverished families were released, the consultation hotline of the federation received many phone calls.

Some sent gifts to the federation and asked the officials of the federation to forward them on their behalf, and others mailed the gifts directly to the villages where the impoverished families were located.

Even after many of the wishes have been fulfilled, donors still called the federation and offered their love and care to the children in need.

"The gifts are not expensive, but may be useful for the children. Please send them to those in need," one of the donors said in a phone call.

Staff members of government organs, enterprises and public institutions, women volunteers, recipients of the title of the March 8th Red-banner Holder and female entrepreneurs are among the caring people who showed good will and hope for the younger generation.
